Berkeley Path Wanderers

Berkeley has 135 paths, steps, and walkways. Paths are maintained by the City’s Department of Public Works and Department of Parks & Recreation. BPWA, a volunteer group of community members, assists by surveying and mapping the paths; scouting out needs for signage and repairs; organizing work groups to maintain and improve paths; and seeking funds for restoring paths and building new ones. Free guided campus walking tours are offered seven days a week. Monday through Friday, tours depart from the UC Berkeley Visitor Center, 101 Sproul Hall, at 10:00 a.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, tours depart from the Campanile (Sather Tower), Saturdays at 10:00 a.m and Sundays at 1:00 p.m.. The UC Botanical Garden is a living museum open to the public with over 12,000 different kinds of plants from around the world displayed over 34 acres.
